If so, Toyota should attempt to liven up the new Corolla and bring back the XRS trim. It's been two generations now, and I think they need a legitimate competitor for cars like the Si and GTI.

they had the Blade Master G which was the Camry 2GR 3.5L V6 crammed into a Corolla/Auris in the previous generation. I reckon it'll fit in the current one.

Will it fit? Probably. Should it have it? No. I may be a little biased, but I believe that once you start putting Subaru boxer engines in everything else, you've lost the one unique thing (aside from ugliness) about Subarus. Not to mention they'd have to mount it transverse if it's only going to be driving the front wheels

Even though it's brand new, it looks so old and dated to me. I saw one on the road the other day and all I could think was that it was so bland. And not even just bland. It was missing the little details that make a car great. Such disappoint.

Isn't it mounted transversely in the Impreza? And maybe you're right about the specialness part. But Toyota doesn't have anything particularly exciting to use instead. They'll never bring back the 8k 1.8 from the GTS, and they'll never give the 2.4/2.5 the tune it needs to be competitive.

It's not terrible looking. At least it broke the old mold of simple melted 3 box with a spoiler.

The problem is it only broke the mold of the previous design of the same car. It has broken no new ground in the segment (or for cars in general).

It's not mounted transversely. That's the whole point of using Boxers. So that it's as far inside the center of the car as possible. Subarus aren't FWD bias.
